It is worth remembering that there was an epic 2007 film where Homer trapped a dome over Springfield and transformed the town into a huge snow globe The one that made us have months of chanting “Spider-Pig”. Why, here you have your butterfingers; because a sequel has finally been announced.
THE Simpsons Movie 2 is gearing up to be announced by 20th Century Studios just yesterday and is currently locked up and loaded for release on July 23, 2027. The first shattered box office record, which earned it more than $536 million globally, happened 18 years ago. And now? The animation giant is roaring back on screen.

The legend of Matt Groening, the voice of the legendary Dan Castellaneta, as Homer, and Julie Kavner, as Marge. And the rest of the dysfunctional family—Bart’s pranks, Lisa’s eye-rolls, and Maggie’s mysterious schemes. The studio released the teaser poster on Instagram, which depicts the Simpsons crew in classic chaos mode, whose familiar pink skyline is shinning under a question mark sky. There are still no plot spoilers, however there are hints at fresh interpretations of family feuds, environmental jabs and Homer’s endless appetite for trouble. Will it be as jaw-dropping as the original?
It is not just another episode drop but a full blown animation feature revival. As The Simpsons continues to release TV hits in 36 seasons on Disney+, the sequel movie is a natural extension of it. They are already buzzing on the internet, a viral meme and thinking D’oh., chants going over to Reddit and to Twitter. Why wait? Creators did not wish to nail the magic and engage in quick money-grabbing. Smart move, right?
