The Diplomat Season 3 is released today, October 16, 2025, on Netflix and has eight episodes that are very captivating. The political thriller with Keri Russell as an ambassador and Kate Wyler begins precisely where the second season left the audience with a shocking cliffhanger.

The second season ended with a surprise. The president W. Rayburn was suddenly killed and Allison Janney played the role of Vice President Grace Penn, who became the president. Kate has accused Penn of a terrorist conspiracy on a British naval vessel. Her husband Hal Wyler, played by Rufus Sewell, might have killed the president accidentally by telling him about Penn’s involvement.
What To Expect This Season?
Showrunner Debora Cahn calls Season 3 one that “flips the chessboard”. Kate faces horror experiences achieving something she desires – but at a heavy price. Hal is also determined to get Kate the vice presidency despite the dangerous situation.
The Netflix thriller was filmed in both London and New York. It also reunited popular cast members such as David Gyasi as Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison, Ali Ahn as Eidra Park, and Rory Kinnear as Prime Minister Trowbridge.
New Additions to the Cast
Star Bradley Whitford of the West Wing plays Todd Penn, the husband of Grace and the new First Gentleman. Irish actor Aidan Turner also features as Callum, a new London friend of Kate.
The eight episodes are currently available exclusively on Netflix. The show remains a fast-moving diplomatic drama with intricate political intrigue to keep the audience engaged.
