Consider the rough and tough streets of Birmingham and the razor-sharp caps. But fast forward to 1953. The Shelbys have returned, more fierce, family-related and willing to rule. Netflix has just released news that the two new seasons of Peaky Blinders are coming.
The mythical Peaky Blinders universe is not coming to an end in the near future. A thrilling sequel series, which will be the next series right after the upcoming movie, The Immortal Man, has been announced by Netflix and BBC. It is not a gangster story about your grandpa. It is a radical departure into post-World War II Britain, where a new generation of Shelbys takes the stage.
Steven Knight, the man behind this sequel is returning as director, and will write two seasons of six episodes with 60-minute episodes each. Expect high-stakes drama, family feuds and that Peaky touch. Cillian Murphy, our eternal Tommy Shelby, is not a mere cameo. He is executive producing alongside Knight. The announcement promises a twist in the story of the Shelby family, and suggests new faces clashing in a changing world.

Fans have been awaiting since the original BBC series ended in 2022, to swallow the razor-gang lore of 1920s Birmingham. Today, plotted against the backdrop of the smoky underbelly of England in the 1950s, I anticipate power shifts, betrayal and redemption. Will the ghosts of Tommy haunt the heirs? Or will the new blood rewrite the rules?
The Peaky Blinders revival will deliver the action-packed Netflix thrill that has already gripped millions of people already. As of now more than 20 million households have watched the show on Netflix. It will be dominated by sharp scripts written in Knight’s and Murphy’s vision. There is no official release date yet, but production will begin shortly. Who would you have as the new Shelby boss?
