On HBO Max in the United States, Peacemaker Season 2 premieres on August 21, 2025, at 9:00 PM ET/PT. For fans in the UK, it’ll drop a day later on August 22, 2025, on Sky Max. In India, you can catch it on JioHotstar at 6:30 AM IST on August 22. Unlike some shows that drop all episodes at once, this season will keep you hooked with a weekly release schedule, with one episode dropping every Thursday (or Friday in some regions) for eight weeks. The finale is set for October 9, 2025.

What’s the Buzz About Season 2?

If you loved the first season’s mix of gritty action, hilarious one-liners, and that iconic dance sequence, Season 2 will blow your mind. This time, the show is set in the new DC Universe (DCU), and a “soft reboot” of the old DC Extended Universe (DCEU). There will be a few big connections to the broader DC Universe since it picks up just one month after the events of James Gunn’s Superman (released in July 2025). The story revolves around Christopher Smith, also known as The Peacemaker, as he wrestles with his messy past while diving into a wild new adventure. He’s stepping through a portal to an alternate dimension where life seems perfect—until he meets another version of himself.

Oh, and here’s the kicker: Rick Flag Sr. (played by Frank Grillo) is coming out for Peacemaker with a vengeance. Why? Because Peacemaker killed his son, Rick Flag Jr., in The Suicide Squad (2021). This sets up a juicy revenge plot that’s sure to keep us on the edge of our seats. Plus, there’s a new opening credits sequence with a fresh song, “Oh Lord” by Foxy Shazam, replacing the first season’s “Do Ya Wanna Taste It?” I am sure it’s going to be epic.

Who’s Back and Who’s New in the Cast?

John Cena is, of course, back as the jingoistic, peace-obsessed Peacemaker. Fan favorites like Danielle Brooks (Leota Adebayo), Freddie Stroma (Vigilante), Jennifer Holland (Emilia Harcourt), Steve Agee (John Economos), and Robert Patrick (Auggie Smith) are returning to stir up more trouble as the 11th Street Kids. Even Eagly, Peacemaker’s loyal eagle, is back—though he’s got a new enemy in Michael Rooker’s Red St. Wild, who’s out to hunt him down.

You can see some faces in this new season 2. Frank Grillo plays the vengeful Rick Flag Sr., while Sol Rodríguez takes on the role of Sasha Bordeaux, a former Secret Service agent from the comics. Tim Meadows steps in as A.R.G.U.S. agent Langston Fleury, and David Denman, Anissa Matlock, Taylor St. You can see Clair, and Brandon Stanley in mysterious roles. Oh, and keep an eye out for Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner/Green Lantern), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), and Sean Gunn (Maxwell Lord), who are crossing over from Superman There is also a “really, really big cameo” teased by Gunn, so expect some surprises.

Why Is Everyone So Excited?

Peacemaker won high praise for its humor, action, and John Cena’s standout performance in the first season, earning a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Season 2 is already making waves, with early reviews giving it a 98% Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 41 critics. Critics are also saying it’s a “standout in superhero television,” with even more heart and chaos than before. James Gunn has written all eight episodes and directed three, and says this season is one of his favorite projects ever. That’s a big deal coming from the guy who gave us Guardians of the Galaxy and Superman!

Fans are also buzzing about the multiverse angle. The trailers hint at Peacemaker facing off against an alternate version of himself, which has sparked tons of theories online. Will this tie into the DCU’s bigger plans? How will it connect with Superman? And what’s up with that portal? You can now expect emotions, top action, and James Gunn’s trademark humor. This show is sure to keep you full of entertainment.

How to Watch Peacemaker Season 2?

You can catch Peacemaker Season 2 on HBO Max in the US, Australia, and Singapore. In the UK, it’s on Sky Max, and in India, it’s streaming on JioHotstar. If you’re new to the show, Season 1 is available on the same platform, so you can binge it to catch up on all the craziness. And if you’re wondering about the runtime, expect each episode to be around 40 minutes of action-packed fun.

What Makes This Season a Must-Watch?

Peacemaker Season 2 isn’t just another superhero show—it’s a bold, hilarious, and heartfelt journey that dives deep into Chris Smith’s psyche. Whether it’s his quest for redemption, his battles with new villains, or the insane dance moves in the new opening sequence, there’s something for everyone. The show’s connection to the DCU, especially Superman, makes it a key piece of James Gunn’s vision for the future of DC on screen. With a stellar cast and positive reviews, it’s going to be one of the biggest hits of 2025.

Are you ready to join Peacemaker in his quest for peace at any cost? You can now share your thoughts about what you’re most excited about. You won’t want to miss the premiere on August 21!
