Isamar Herrera, who was at Miss Grand International 2025 representing Panama, came to the limelight for a surprising reason. On October 18, the 31-year-old beauty queen was caught in an embarrassing situation during the finale of the pageant that was taking place in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Confusion That Shocked the World
When the Top 22 finalists were announced, host Matthew Deane called it ‘Miss Grand Paraguay’. But Herrera misunderstood the announcement. She believed that her country had been called upon. She walked proudly onto the stage, her fists high in the air, and at the front of the stage, she was extremely excited. She even posed for a few seconds as the audience remained in a state of stunned silence.
The host quickly intervened. “Ah, I beg your pardon, I announced Miss Grand Paraguay,” he explained. The real finalist, Cecilia Romero of Paraguay, then took her place. Herrera graciously resumed her original position among the 76 contestants.
Graceful response and a viral sensation
The event soon became viral on social media. The video received more than 5 million views on Tik Tok, and the audience sympathised with the beauty contestant. It was reported that many fans described it as something hard to watch and the way Herrera behaved very well in the whole ordeal.
Herrera answered beautifully with maturity. ‘These things happen,’ she told the Daily Mail. You must know how to lose and see the victory of other people. She gained immense popularity online due to her positive attitude.
Miss Philippines Emma Tiglao eventually became the winner of Miss Grand International 2025, making it back-to-back victories for the Philippines.
