The Mandalorian and Grogu’s first explosive trailer has just been released, which promises power-packed action, Baby Yoda mischief and a new chapter in the Star Wars saga. Is this the film that reignites the Force back to life?
Fans of Star Wars, get ready to cheer. The long-awaited trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu has finally hit the ground throwing us back into the gritty galaxy that we all adore. This two-minute teaser, which was released by Lucasfilm yesterday, is more punch than a lightsaber duel. None other than Grogu our favorite green gremlin, or Baby Yoda.

The film, directed by Jon Favreau, who was the director of the Disney+ series that started it all, follows Season 3. It’s no small thing. This spin-off was greenlit back in January 2024 and filmed throughout the month of December amid Hollywood strikes that have rocked the industry. This time, we meet the biggest-screen Star Wars adventure since the Rise of Skywalker in 2019. It will release in theaters on May 22, 2026, and deep dive into the themes of finding family and fierce defense. Favreau nails it saying, “As we grow up and have kids, it’s nice to see a hero facing those same joys and fears.”
But hang on there are plenty of star powers. Sigourney Weaver joins as a mysterious ally and The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White is used to voice Rotta the Hutt the son of the slimy crime Lord of the Clone Wars years. The fast cuts of the trailer reveal the pursuit of the epic ships, blasters firing on the dusty cantinas & Grogu Force lifting snacks by Force in the middle of the battle. John Williams’ swelling score? Pure nostalgia chills.
There are mixed reactions? Like a good cantina brawl. Other fans praise: “It is pure Mandalorian – rough, entertaining, and heartfelt!” Others complain that it feels too TV-like: “Doesn’t scream ‘movie blockbuster.’ More like an extended episode.” President of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy describes it as a generational bridge, and it attracts new people, but honors the old guard.

Your opinion on this matter is that this trailer is in the adventure genre. Will Grogu’s cuteness come to the rescue of the day? Or will evil threaten the Mando probe? One thing is certain: Star Wars is storming back into theatres, and it will combine the thrill of bounty hunting and the attractive charm of Baby Yoda. Check your calendars, Jedi hopefuls! The Force is calling!
