Gospel star Chandler Moore filed a lawsuit against the CEO of Maverick City Music Norman Gyamfi claiming fraud, forged signatures, and stolen royalties. Get more information about the sensational truth about his dramatic departure from the Grammy-winning band.
Chandler Moore is considered the biggest name in the world of contemporary Christian music. Being a co-founder of Grammy-winning Maverick City Music, he has touched millions with such hits as ‘Jireh’ and ‘Promises.’

However, the news is circulating with a jaw-dropping twist. Moore has sued the CEO of the group, Norman Gyamfi in federal court, claiming multiple frauds, falsified signatures and callous royalties diversion. It is a hard-hitting story that shakes the roots of one of the biggest collectives in the gospel. Also read, Halo Season 3: Netflix’s Epic Comeback – Will Master Chief Finally Get His Shot?
In 2021, when Gyamfi was still a trusted manager to Moore, he allegedly snatched a sneaky deal. Without the consent of Moore, he had sold the master recordings of Maverick City Music to The Orchard, which is a Sony subsidiary. And to get this Gyamfi got a fat commission. All this when he kept Moore in the dark.
The lawsuit depicts a dark picture of betrayal. Moore states that Gyamfi signed a co-publishing contract using a forged signature, sending songwriting income directly to Maverick City rather than to his own pocket. That’s not all, approximately 800,000 in outstanding payments on a 2024 contract, where Moore wrote new songs and took to the road touring, have not been paid. Millions more? The suit filed in federal court in Atlanta on October 1 alleges that it has been diverted through self-dealing and shady transactions.
In October, Moore announced his exit from Maverick City just after filing, on October 6. He posted on his social media handles that “I’m stepping into a new season,” with a steady voice that says a lot of pain he is going through. Co-founder Naomi Raine left as well, but she does not want to be involved in the legal mess. What will be Moore’s vision now? To make folks “feel a little more human, a little more understood.” Heartwarming, right?
Maverick City is not keeping silent for long. Jonathan Jay, the other co-founder, responded with an Instagram post that the allegations were categorically false and calculated to avoid contracts. We were candid and generous in our transactions, he insisted. Gyamfi and the group, including TRIBL Records deny all the allegations. They are open to an investigation, hoping the truth will come out. Breach of contract? Forgery and conversion? The court will decide who is guilty or not.
It is a setback for fans. Founded in 2018, Maverick City is a raw, inclusive revolution worship band. One of their hits, Kingdom Book One, got them a 2023 Grammy award in the category of Best Gospel Album. However, this copyright infringement sci-fi is going to take away that glow. Moore is claiming damages, voided contracts, and justice for his intellectual property.
There is obviously some doubt in people’s minds about trusting the music industry as the lawsuit is underway. It’s fragile. Moore will come out stronger, channeling the hurt into healing anthems?
