The film earned over $440 million dollars globally on a budget of $205 million dollars. It grossed $124 million in the United States and Canada and had an opening weekend of $27 million. International markets contribution finally saved the day by adding $315 million. It is more successful than some of its competitors such as Marvel.
On Rotten Tomatoes, critics rated it 33 percent based on 212 reviews. They called it familiar. However, the audience rated 79%, which is more than 72% in the first film. Action roks and stunning visual effects are the main highlights.
