Survivor Season 49 is no different as it takes off on its unpredictable journey of dramatic blindsides and strategic play. The latest casualty in the explosive Week 9 episode was Alex Moore, and necklaces of double immunity and alliances continue to keep the contestants on edge.
Season 49 of Survivor: The Blindsides and Double Immunity Rock the Game

Season 49 of Survivor is one of this year’s most exciting seasons. The reality competition series by CBS, debuting on September 24, 2025, remains an exciting show with unexpected eliminations and strategic gameplay that leaves everybody in suspense.
The eliminations rock the Island
The episode of this week also led to another shocking twist. In episode 9, Alex Moore was blindsided and only nine castaways were left in the competition. The under-the-radar player was not expecting it. He got eliminated after Michelle “MC” Chukwujekwu made an unexpected departure that shook the whole tribe.
The game was further complicated when the participants found out who made it through the Tribal Council. Rizo Velovic survived even when on the chopping block, and retained his immunity idol. His maneuvering skills amazed other players, as well as host Jeff Probst.

Double Immunity Works Wonders!
Week 9 saw a game-changing element; there were two immunity necklaces to win. This twist forced the other competitors to rethink their alliances. Savannah Louie was the winner, and her team received immunity which proves challenge dominance. Sophie Segreti is still proving herself as a challenge beast this season, as she continues to perform well in competitions.
With the double immunity challenge, not only were the stakes raised, but the strategy board was flipped as well. Players who were feeling safe were caught at-risk. New possibilities appeared before those on the outs.
Alliances and Strategy
In this season, there are 18 different castaways categories in three tribes: Hina, Kele, and Uli. Cast members are a rocket scientist, former Marvel executive Nate Moore, legal professionals, and a financial crime advisor. Their rich backgrounds come with different strategic approaches to the game.
Recently Kristina Mills accused Savannah of exhibiting ‘mean girl energy’ which is sure to add physical competition to the social drama. Meanwhile, Jeff Probst compares the gameplay of one contestant to the legendary player Parvati Shallow, and highlights outstanding strategic choices.
What’s Next?
Only nine players are left and the jury members come together, so every decision turns out to be crucial. Alliances change and broken trust imply that no one is safe. The road to the $1 million prize gets tougher every week.
Survivor Season 49 will be available Wednesday at 8 PM ET on CBS and Paramount+. More blindsides, gameplay, and dramatic tribal councils await fans as contestants fight their way through the Mamanuca Islands of Fiji to the season finale.
