Oscar Isaac does a fantastic job as Victor Frankenstein, the obsessed man who attempts to discover a way to break immortality and create life from death. The creature is played by Australian actor Jacob Elordi known for his role in Elvis, towers as the creature and this time critics are describing it as an acclaimed performance. Mia Goth acts in a dual role, Elizabeth Harlander and Baroness Claire Frankenstein, the late mother of Victor.
The other star cast includes Hollywood heavy weights such as Christoph Waltz who plays the role of Henrich Harlander, the wealthy patron of Victor, and Charles Dance who plays the role of Baron Leopold Frankenstein. David Bradley is in the role of Blind Man who makes friends with the creature, and Lars Mikkelsen plays Captain Anderson. The cast is completed by Felix Kammerer, Ralph Ineson, and Burn Gorman.

Del Toro’s vision
This adaptation remains faithful to the 1818 novel by Mary Shelley. Director Guillermo del Toro took more than 10 years to bring this passion project to life. It is not the ordinary Frankenstein of the mad scientist and the monster grunting his way around, which is what del Toro described. The movie is 149 minutes long and relies on practical effects to create its Gothic environment. It was debuted at the Venice International Film Festival and released in theaters on October 17, 2025, and on Netflix.
