Wicked For Good Release Date: Ariana Grande’s Musical Sequel Coming in November 2025

The Wicked: For Good, the much-hyped sequel to the 2024 blockbuster Broadway musical adaptation will delight audiences everywhere on November 21, 2025. The film will be an emotional ride with new cast entries and dark themes.​

The wizarding land of Oz is calling again. The film Wicked: For Good will be released in theaters on November 21, 2025, nearly one year after the successful release of the first film. Massive expectations have come with the sequel as the first earned a massive total of $756 million at the global box office, becoming the biggest-grossing Broadway musical adaptation of all time.​

What’s the new title about?

In December 2024, the sequel was officially retitled Wicked: For Good by Universal Pictures. The title is a reference to one of the most emotional songs in the musical in which Elphaba and Glinda recount their friendship. It’s a perfect choice. The title perfectly describes what makes this story memorable.​

Star-Studded Cast Returns

Ariana Grande is back as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo is coming back as Elphaba who plays the role of the Wicked Witch of the West. The two movies were filmed one right after the other and were completed in January 2024. Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, and Ethan Slater will also make a comeback.​

The most surprising casting surprise? Emmy-nominated actor Colman Domingo is cast as the cowardly lion. Dorothy Gale will also play in a bigger role as well as Scarecrow and Tin Man.

Darker Themes Ahead

Director Jon M. Chu promised that the sequel would explore complicated themes. The story continues where Part One left off, where Elphaba accepts her evil identity and Glinda turns into the main propagandist of the Wizard. Their friendship is tested to the extreme when a political revolution reshapes Oz.​
