The movie Black Phone 2 officially hit theaters all across the United States on October 17, 2025. The long-awaited horror sequel reunites director Scott Derrickson and his lifelong collaborator C. Robert Cargill to resume the horror story that captivated audiences in 2021.

Cast and Crew Back To Supernatural Thriller
Ethan Hawke returns to his spine-chilling role as The Grabber the masked serial killer who tormented viewers in the first movie. Although the character met his fate in the original film, he is introduced in a supernatural twist that brings the franchise to the darker side. Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw also come back as Finney and Gwen Blake, two siblings still struggling with the trauma of their horrific past.
Some new faces become part of the growing horror universe such as Demiian Bichir, Anna Lore, and Arianna Rivas.
The Plot Takes a Dark Turn
The sequel is set four years after the main events in 1982 with Finney grappling with PTSD and his psychic sister Gwen having haunting visions of murdered children. The siblings travel to Alpine Lake during a winter storm, where The Grabber awaits them in a nightmare showdown.
Box Office Expectations and Critical Reception
The film was made by Blumhouse Productions on a budget of $30 million dollars and it is expected to earn $23-29 million in its first weekend of release in 3,200 theaters. The supernatural thriller is being distributed by Universal Pictures, which hopes to replicate the original’s impressive gross of $161 million globally.
Positive responses from the critics’ side with Rotten Tomatoes rating it 74% positive. The movie is premiered at Fantastic Fest on September 20, 2025, before it is released in theatres.
