Earth, Wind and Fire not only performed at the Hollywood Bowl, but they owned it. The iconic group, with 50 years of number-one hits under its belt, took center stage on September 21, 2025, at a star-studded Grammy Salute special. They were supported by well known Los Angeles Philharmonic bands, and their performance was an ecstatic explosion of brass, bass, and sheer joy. The night started with the anthem of EWF. September left everybody on their feet and throwing horns and fireworks. The bass notes of Verdine White were around banging through the crisp evening air, and the falsetto of Philip Bailey flew higher than the Bowl’s famed shell. Short and sweet? That’s the energy. Long and lush? The instrumental surge which made the Shining Star into symphonic gold.

Stevie Wonder released a heartfelt tribute, his lyrics created tales of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Kennedy Center nominations for EWF. The Jonas Brothers put up a pop-infused ‘Boogie Wonderland’. Jon Batiste brings jazz fire to the song “After The Love Has Gone.” And Janelle Monáe? She makes her cover of That’s the Way of the World, a pure poetry movement. It is a family reunion for funk music lovers.
