Hollywood glitz and glamour was on the stage last night during the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. This year, it was held on September 14, 2025, in Los Angeles, and it was a rollercoaster of emotions, surprises and some truly memorable moments. Nate Bargatze, a comedian, was the first host and he did not delve into politics but made it light and enjoyable. He began the show with a comedy sketch involving the stars of Saturday Night Live such as James Austin Johnson, Mikey Day and Bowen Yang. They made fun of everything single thing, streaming wars, old school networks, and pure comedy gold.

Wondering who took away the top prizes? You may as well divide it into sections. Under the drama category, HBO’s hospital series, The Pitt, took Outstanding Drama Series. Noah Wyle gave an exemplary performance that was the power to win Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and Katherine LaNasa was awarded Supporting Actress in the same show. In comedy, it was big time for Apple TV+ in its comedy ‘The Studio’, a humorous interpretation of Hollywood madness. It received the Outstanding Comedy Series award with Seth Rogen getting the Lead Actor. The show also swept the Directing and Writing categories thanks to talents like Evan Goldberger and the team.
Limited series fans also have much to rejoice about. The overall winner of this was the series called ‘Adolescence’ which won Outstanding Limited Series. Raw performances by Stephen Graham saw him win Lead Actor and a young Owen Cooper who was 15 at the time, became the youngest winner in history as a supporting actor. And that was so, a teen took over the stage. Erin Doherty followed up that victory with a Supporting Actress trophy of her own. In the meantime, Christian Milioti has emerged in the limelight, as the Lead Actress in The Penguin.
And the supporting stars made the night more entertaining. The other historic moment was made by Tramell Tillman, who became the first Black man to be a winner of Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for “Severance.” Everyone was weeping with his emotional speech as he dedicated the award to his mom. And “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”, with Colbert himself making fun of his show’s demise, then giving a heartfelt plead to people to be united.
Other than the victories, the Emmy left all of us with some unforgettable moments. Stephen Colbert jibed on cancellations and even won his category amid cheers. Advocacy was also in the limelight, with Hannah Einbinder giving a speech on Free Palestine, and others such as Javier Bardem showing solidarity in support of Gaza.
The In Memoriam segment, hosted by Phylicia Rashad, was full of moving messages to such legends as Quincy Jones and Ozzy Osbourne, and a special mention of Malcolm-Jamal Warner.
